Coats for Kids to collect coats through November 8th

A coat drive to help children is being held throughout this month in Nodaway County.

Coats for Kids is a non-profit program for getting impoverished children in Northwest Missouri sufficient coats and winter-wear for this cold season. Nodaway County Prosecuting Attorney, Robert Rice, says Coats for Kids is looking for new or gently used coats throughout Nodaway County.

"So what we've done is we've partnered with schools, churches, and law enforcement agencies throughout Nodaway County.  Everybody's got a bin and everybody is encouraging the folks in their area to donate any new or gently-used coats that they no longer need."

Rice adds these coats will be distributed through Community Services in Maryville, Missouri, with no questions asked.

"What we're going to do is we're going to take all those coats and we're going to deliver them to Community Services in Maryville which is a charitable organization.  We'll provide those coats at no cost, no application fees, to folks that need a coat.  Just go up, get a coat.  You need one, you'll get one."

Donations of new and used coats will be accepted through November 8th. Collection centers have been set up at the Nodaway County Sheriff's office, Maryville Public Safety building, Missouri Highway Patrol Maryville Zone office, Northwest Missouri State University's Police Department, several Maryville churches and school districts throughout Nodaway County.
